About the knitter
While working in a shoestore in Massachusetts, I met a wool sock. It was machine-made, but it was so soft and so warm and so unlikely to fit my size 9.5 Ginormously Wide foot that I despaired my wool sock affair was not meant to be...until I met a man who had a knitty mother. He, being a man, turned to his mother for wooing ideas, and asked her to hand-knit a pair of socks as a gift for me. The moment I slipped my feet in those self-striped Limbo yarn creations, I knew I was in love (with the man and the socks). Three months later, I moved to Maryland so I could indulge both my loves and I've been a sock-knitter ever since.
